Who can participate in the competition?

The competition is open to all undergraduate students studying at participating universities across Australia and New Zealand. Students from disciplines including finance, property, construction, planning, architecture, engineering, and business are encouraged to apply.

How do I apply?

Students should contact their university department head or faculty representative to register their interest. Universities organise the campus competitions and coordinate team selection.

How are teams formed?

Teams typically consist of (minimum) four to (maximum) six students. Your university faculty will assist with team formation and may allocate students to ensure balanced teams with complementary skill sets.

What does the competition involve?

Teams analyse a real-world real estate case study covering topics such as investment strategy, development feasibility, and market analysis. Teams prepare a presentation outlining their recommendations and present to industry judges.

What skills will I gain from participating?

Participants develop practical skills including real estate investment analysis, strategic thinking, teamwork and collaboration, professional presentation skills, and engagement with industry professionals.

What happens if my team wins the campus competition?

The winning team from each university advances to the ANZ Final in Sydney, where they compete against other university teams.

What happens at the ANZ Final?

Teams present their case analysis to a panel of senior industry professionals. The top teams are selected to represent Australia and New Zealand at the global Cornell PropConnex final in New York.

What is the prize for winning the ANZ Final?

The top teams receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to compete in the Cornell PropConnex Global Competition.

What happens at the global final in New York?

Up to 20 university teams from around the world present their proposals at the global final hosted by Cornell University. Participants also have the opportunity to connect with international peers and industry leaders.

Is there a cost to participate?

There is no cost for students to participate in the competition. Travel to Sydney and to the global final is covered for the winning teams.

PropConnex provides direct exposure to leading real estate firms and industry professionals. Many participants build connections that lead to internships and graduate opportunities.
