The Australian Real Estate Competition is an annual event that offers student in their final year of study an exciting opportunity to showcase their knowledge in a series of complex real estate case challenges. With finals held in New York, the Competition is organised by PropConnex and hosted by leading Australian universities.

The process

01

Stage one

Registration

Contact your university department head and apply. The competition replicates real world, large-scale property challenges that students in finance, construction, planning and design will face beyond graduation. You will work with your university department head on team member allocation.

Stage two

University Campus Competition

Once your university has entered their teams, each team will compete in their state competition. A team from each state will be selected to compete in the semi final in Sydney, Australia. All flights and accommodation will be included.

Stage three

National Competition in Sydney

The winning team from each University will travel to Sydney to compete in the Australian National Final on September 12, 2024, hosted by NAB. The top 2 teams will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to New York to participate in the Cornell PropConnex International Case Competition.

Stage four

Cornell PropConnex Global Competition in NYC

The top 2 Australian teams will fly to New York on an all-expenses-paid trip to compete in the Cornell PropConnex final on November 15, 2024, hosted by JP Morgan.

Up to 20 university teams from around the globe will be selected to present their proposals in New York. Participants will have the opportunity to connect with industry leaders and peers from the USA, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Hong Kong.

Conditions of entry

We aim to discover and support the next generation of talent by connecting them with industry leaders and facilitating the transition from university to successful careers.

Competitors must be in the final year of study during the competition.

Maximum of three and maximum of six members per team.

12 semi-final teams will be selected to present their proposals in New York.

Propconnex champions diversity across our competitions

As an equal opportunity initiative, Propconnex encourages students to form teams that are as diverse as possible – and doing so will add weight to their entry.

In the recently completed Campus Competitions, women represented over 40% of the students and judges. We’re also pleased to report that two female teams placed in the top three at their respective universities – an excellent result for first-time competitors.
